Now that the summer holiday is over we packed up Whack and headed to Brussels Games Festival in Brussels, Belgium. At around three hours from our home base, it was a manageable trip, but it was also a great opportunity to see how Whack would hold up in a predominantly French-speaking environment. And maybe even win a prize…?
We had our own stand in the auditorium, together with other game producers, where we could introduce Whack to festival visitors throughout the weekend. But there was something even more exciting waiting for us: Whack had been selected for the Protozone!
The Protozone is an area dedicated to games that are still in the prototype stage. This year, 61 games were submitted, from which an initial jury of game experts selected just 12 games to participate. Being one of those 12 was already a fantastic achievement for us.
During the festival six jury members visited every game in the Protozone. They played, asked questions, gave us comments and suggestions, and rated each game. But the jury wasn’t the only one deciding the winners. Festival visitors could also vote for their top three games in the Protozone.
Then came the end of Day 3 and the moment we had been waiting for: the jury prize and audience prize were announced…and we are proud to say that Whack has WON! The audience voted for our game to win and so the Meeple Pis D’or was ours to take home!

We are incredibly excited and proud that so many people enjoyed Whack enough to cast their vote for us.
This prize gives us a boost of confidence as we continue our journey toward a crowdfunding campaign.
A huge thank you to everyone who played, voted, shared their thoughts, and encouraged us during the festival. You made Brussels an unforgettable stop on the Whack journey!
Next stop will be Moxcon in Alkmaar on the 13th of September. Hope to see you all there!
