The development of Whack is in full swing, and the game is starting to take real shape. So what better reason to show our progress to the person who helped give it its look: our talented illustrator Mátyás Locsmándi. Matyas lives in Budapest, and Daan decided it was time to make the trip.

Sitting outside at a nice cafe the came was layed out in front of Matyas. His reaction? “Christmas came early!” He inspected everything from head to toe, and we reminisced about the steps taken to bring each card’s artwork to life. Matyas was enthusiastic about the colouring and remarked that the game already looks like it could be sitting in a shop, ready for sale.
After three hours of demonstrating the game, it was time for Daan to head home, but not without a promise to return. The next visit will bring an updated prototype, a new version of the box, the Whackspansion box, and the final cards all printed at higher quality. And this time, Kasper will be joining the trip too.
A great milestone in our project, and a wonderful reminder of the beautiful piece of art this game has become. See you soon, Budapest!
