Back with an brand new Whack update! We’re packing our bags (and our best board game prototypes) and heading to SPIEL in Essen, one of the biggest and most exciting board game conventions in Europe. For anyone who loves tabletop games, SPIEL is (apparently) a dream come true: eight giant halls filled with board games to explore and the chance to meet amazing people from all corners of the gaming world.
But this year, our visit is extra special. We’ve got an appointment with the team at Panda Game Manufacturing to pitch Whack and see if we can take part in their “25 in 25” competition.
It is a program giving up-and-coming game designers the chance to win $25,000 worth of publishing support. It’s a huge opportunity for us so we decided to sign up Whack! At Spiel we will be given 15 minutes to demo our game and impress the judges enough to let us enter the competition. We’ll be honest: it’s nerve wrecking and exciting at the same time!
That means the past couple of weeks have been a whirlwind of preparation. We’re finishing up a brand-new prototype featuring the latest artwork from Matyás (#printgasm), polishing the rulebook, and even filming a short pitch video this Thursday.
We have done a lot of work in a short time so we can arrive at SPIEL with a prototype that turns heads and a pitch worthy of an award-winning game. Whether or not we make it into the 25 in 25, we can’t wait to share Whack with the world and soak in everything this legendary convention has to offer.

Stay tuned and we’ll share updates, photos, and a behind-the-scenes look at our SPIEL adventure after the adventure completed!
